Independent of Liberty

Isn't it strange that The Independent screams blue murder about the liberty of potential terrorists, but applauds the extensive restrictions imposed by taxation and regulation. If habeas corpus was applied to education or healthcare, that is if the government had to prove that these could not be provided by the private sector, I'm sure the taxpayer would be freed.
